Black Space: Group Therapy Experience (LGBTQIA+)

Black Space in partnership with Milwaukee Art Museum, United Way Greater Milwaukee. Black Space is a community organization that provides FREE group therapeutic experiences for Black and Brown communities. In an effort to destigmatize mental wellness, Dr. Lia A. Knox, Corey Fells, and Darius Smith have come together to create beautiful and safe spaces, designated for healing communities that have been burdened by economic suppression, racial disparities in and limited access to quality health care, and a lack of culturally competent mental health providers.

Our group therapy experiences are designed for individuals interested in therapy, anchored by community healing. These sessions are specifically tailored towards Black and Brown women, men, and LGBTQ+ identifying people who are 18 and up. While they will be segmented across these identities, they will all be led by our co-founder Dr. Knox, a licensed therapist and practitioner alongside a mental wellness advocate. Attendees can partake in cross-generational healing among like-minded peers while receiving validation and support from one another and the co-facilitators.
