Black Butterfly Farm Pavilion Raising
About this Event
Earth-Bound Building has constructed a beautiful 1,000 square foot timber frame pavilion that will serve as the Black Butterfly Teaching Farm’s hub for classes, workshops, and community gatherings. We invite you to join us between 10 AM and noon on Friday, June 12 — this open moment is a chance to stop by, spend some time at the farm, and mark this exciting new chapter as the structure comes to life.
Come take your lunch break with us, bring a blanket or chair, snacks or a picnic, and settle in to watch the timber frame pavilion be constructed and installed. This is a relaxed, accessible window to be on the land and see the farm in action. Connect with FAB staff, community members and neighbors to see and walk the farm, and learn more about our work in urban agriculture, education, and food sovereignty.
The rain date for this event is Monday, June 15.
About the Farm
FAB's Black Butterfly Teaching Farm is our hub for food production, farmer training, and community connection in South Baltimore. With support from the City of Baltimore, we signed a 15-year lease in 2021 and planted our first crops in Curtis Bay that fall. In 2025, a generous grant allowed us to continue construction and expansion of the farm site, which now includes a greenhouse, a high tunnel, and an apiary, with more to come, including more space for workshops and community gatherings, new facilities to train the next generation of urban growers, and more growing areas to support a wider variety of crops year-round.
We envision the Black Butterfly Teaching Farm as a place where we can grow food for Baltimore and cultivate a space where neighbors, FAB members, and aspiring growers can come together to exchange knowledge, build skills, and strengthen community.
