TAKE A WALK ON THE DARK SIDE!
Join dark historian Andrew Johnston of Alternative Ulstours on a devilishly informative and shockingly entertaining walking tour of Belfast's Linen Quarter.
Dare you uncover the sinister secrets lurking in these olden streets?
• The ill-fated 'millie' of the Titanic linen factory
• A murder mystery in the heart of 'Linenopolis'
• Kenneth Branagh's 'monster' night in Belfast
• Belfast's sad refuge for 'waifs and strays'
• The 'cult' that saw a legal loophole in Belfast
• Double tragedy on Glenalpin Street
• The haunting of Sandy Row
• Behind Belfast's most controversial sculpture
• Belfast's cruel penitentiary for 'fallen women'
• Remembering a Belfast victim of an infamous serial killer
• Harsh times at Belfast's first prison
• A body snatching scare at Belfast's first medical school
• Horrific happenings in Belfast's 'Theatreland'
Please note:
• The walking tour starts outside the Limelight 2 on Ormeau Avenue in the Linen Quarter in Belfast city centre, where your guide will be waiting for you
• Please arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled start time
• The tour will last three hours and cover around two miles on mainly flat, even ground
• The route is fully accessible, but please inform us in advance of any mobility issues
• The tour ends at the Grand Opera House on Great Victoria Street in the Linen Quarter in Belfast city centre
• The tour will go ahead in all weathers, so please dress accordingly and stay hydrated
• There are public toilets near the start and end points, and we can make a toilet stop approximately halfway through the tour if required
• There will also be an optional refreshment stop approximately halfway through the tour (refreshments at own cost)
• Well-behaved dogs are welcome on the tour
• Your guide is a Level 4 'blue badge' tour guide and Visit Belfast industry partner
• The tour is fully insured through Tour Guides NI
Very important:
• The tour is open to all ages, but parental guidance is advised due to the graphic nature of some content. You have been warned!
