Bites & Insights: Shaping better futures for aging
About this Event
Older adults - the real experts in shaping better futures for aging
We all hope to age well — but where we live, what we earn and the communities we're part of can shape that journey in very different ways. In this session, postdoctoral fellow Cameron Murray will explore how community-driven research can spark real change and support a fairer future for aging. Drawing on examples from research, public policy and emerging technologies, Murray will challenge how we think about aging in place and offer ideas for addressing often ignored aspects of getting older.
Cameron Murray is a community-based anthropologist, design researcher and health science communicator. His work challenges the role of experts and elevates the lived experiences of vulnerable groups to better advocate for their unique health and wellness needs. His current project explores how older adults can help shape better futures of aging in their own communities.
About the Bites & Insights Series
As we age, many of us want to know what we can do to stay healthy and live well. However, with an overwhelming amount of information available, it can be challenging to determine where to focus our efforts to achieve the greatest impact on our health and well-being.
Join researchers and experts from the McMaster Institute for Research on Aging (MIRA) for Bites & Insights, a community talk series designed to share practical, evidence-based ways to stay healthy and engaged in the activities you enjoy as you age. Each session includes time for audience questions and open discussion. Light refreshments will be provided.
