Expedition: Greenland is a statewide humanities, leadership, and adventure film series presented by The Study, bringing this extraordinary story to four North Dakota communities.

Join us in Bismarck for a screening of the award-winning documentary Expedition: Greenland (2025), followed by a live conversation and audience Q&A with North Dakota physician and expedition team member Dr. Jon Solberg.

The film documents the first successful south-to-north vehicle crossing of Greenland's ice sheet—a remarkable 21-day, 1,400-mile journey across one of the most remote and unforgiving environments on Earth. Directed by Clay Croft and filmed with a single camera and drone, the documentary follows seven adventurers as they navigate shifting ice, brutal weather, mechanical failures, and the constant challenge of making critical decisions under pressure.

More than an adventure film, Expedition: Greenland is a story about leadership, resilience, trust, and teamwork. The expedition demanded continuous driving shifts of up to 75 hours, complete reliance on fellow team members, and thoughtful decision-making in one of the harshest landscapes on Earth.

Following the film, Dr. Solberg will share behind-the-scenes stories from the expedition and discuss the lessons he learned about leadership, risk, perseverance, and collaboration. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions during a live Q&A moderated by Brian Jackson.
