During Birth Trauma Awareness Week, The Mother Hood is creating space for women to be seen, held and witnessed in the aftermath of a traumatic birth experience. We want to celebrate you as survivors of the experience you had, support you to start to reclaim the parts of self that were affected by your birth experience and give you practical tools to help your healing journey.
If you are a mother who identifies her birth as being traumatic, if you have any negative feeling towards your birthing experience or you’re just not sure, The Hood invites you to join us for a half day event where we can come together, connect, share, support, learn and heal together.
Together we will explore what birth trauma is, what is happening in the mind and the body through the lens of our nervous system and its need to keep us feeling safe. We will come together to explore a truth mandala, an activity that allows us to name and share through some of the feelings associated with your birth experience. We will share a group morning tea of nourishing foods and connection. The event will then explore what local services are available to support mother’s after birth trauma as well as discussing in the group what steps and tools have been helpful in the healing journey. A small breakaway will accomodate women to choose to have a session that looks at next birth after trauma or, if not planning any future births, a guided journaling session.
We will finish the day with creating individual essential oil rollers, a grounding tool to help the mind and body connect and close out our first inaugural birth trauma for mothers events with a healing sound bowl journey.
We welcome you to join us for a day of connected healing to find the light and to find self again after a traumatic birth experience.
We recognise the sensitive and vulnerable nature of birth trauma, and at no point will you be asked to share your full birth story with the group. During the event there will be a quiet space for anyone who would like to honour some quiet self time, if the need arises. Due to the nature of this event, this is a baby/child free event to ensure upmost presence and healing can occur.
