At 7:30 a.m. meet in the parking lot. From U. S. 41, turn east on Deer Run Road. At the intersection with Government Road, go straight in the right lane. (Don’t depend on your GPS; it might lead you to the wrong entrance.) Note 7:30 a.m. start time to beat the heat.
Along the 1.5-mile trail through sandhill and hardwood hammock and a powerline right-of-way, expect to see American Kestrel, Bachman’s Sparrow, Eastern Bluebird, hawks, woodpeckers, other woodland bird species, and butterflies. Make reservations with Ken: [email protected] or 352-346-4132.
