Pre-registration is required for this eventBirds have a lot to say—if you know how to listen! Join us for a Birding by Ear walk to learn how to identify birds using their songs and calls. This program will help you sharpen your listening skills and get to know some of the most common vocal birds of Seven Islands by sound alone. Birding by ear is an invaluable skill that opens up a whole new way to experience the natural world, especially during the busy spring season when birds are more often heard than seen.
Please meet at the Bluebird Barn at 8:00 AM. Be prepared to walk about 2-3 miles over both paved and unpaved surfaces. For more details about the route we will take, read the Essential Eligibility Criteria. The program will last approximately 2 hours and include frequent stops to listen and learn bird vocalizations in a variety of habitats.
The cost of this program is $8.00 per person. Children under 5 are free with a paying adult.
Please come prepared with good walking shoes, a water bottle, and sun protection. If you have a favorite birding app or field guide, feel free to bring it along. Pets are not allowed on programs, except service animals.
