Please come along and support our bingo night on Thursday 27th February at Ayton Sports Assosciation to raise vital funds for Penelope’s Little Heart.
By joining us on the night you’ll be helping to support a beautiful 14-month-old little girl, Penelope. She is a happy, loving little girl who has brought so much joy to everyone’s lives, but right now, she is facing the fight of her life.
Penelope was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy when she was a month old, a serious condition that has left her heart unable to function on its own. For months her condition was managed on medication until she had a cardiac arrest at Leeds Children’s hospital whilst undergoing a routine medication change.
She was then on ECMO support at Leeds. Penelope urgently needed a Berlin Heart to survive, yet NHS bed shortages delayed access to this life-saving treatment.
Thanks to people’s generosity the fundraising target was met in just 3 days. Great Ormond Street Hospital stepped in
To save Penelope and she underwent the Berlin Heart operation and is now recovering. The funds raised will go towards helping Penelope’s family and other families in a similar position.
Penelope has a long journey ahead and could potentially be in hospital for years waiting for a donor heart.
