About this Event
In December 2025, the UK government decided to stop funding one of the most controversial gas projects led by Total Energies in Mozambique, which is highly polluting and already caused severe conflict, environmental destruction, abuses and human rights violations.
Behind this decision is an award winning campaign led by an NGO coalition that ended the UK’s multi-billion taxpayer subsidies for overseas fossil fuel projects. This led to a ‘domino effect’ that created a 40-signatory international agreement that is shifting up to $16 billion a year of taxpayer finance out of fossil fuels projects and into clean energy instead.
We have many reasons to celebrate and learn! Adam McGibbon, coalition leader and campaign strategist from Oil Change International will explain some of the strategies and tactics, reveal the campaign’s inner workings, and how these might be applied to other campaigns.
- Speaker: Adam McGibbon - Oil Change International
- Moderator: Lora Verheecke - Counter Balance
Join us to celebrate a real win and learn from it! 🎉
