Bill O'Connell Trio Featuring Lincoln Goines & Jon Krosnick

A powerful voice in Latin jazz, Bill O'Connell always plays a thoughtful program of originals and re-imagined standards filled with energy and high spirits. O’Connell’s clever and sparkling rearrangements, exuberant chordal comping, and knotty solos, all imbued with lots of fun, transcend categorization and combine rhythmic complexities with glittering single note runs in a sort of Bud Powell-meets-Chick-Corea sound. JAZZIZ Magazine said this about Bill’s performance: “The skill and chemistry of the players and the many small pleasures in arrangement and execution add up to a high-scoring set.” He began his career playing piano with conguero and Grammy Hall of Fame member Mongo Santamaria, was the long-time pianist of dynamic flutist and Grammy winner Dave Valentin, worked with Jerry Gonzales and his famed Fort Apache Band, and is a regular collaborator with trumpeter Randy Brecker.
