Bill Coon Trio explores beloved jazz standards and original songs and arrangements showcase the group’s shared love of improvising, beautiful melodies, and groove-based songs. These three exceptional mainstays of the Canadian music scene relish creating music together and revel in the Trio’s magical interplay. Bill Coon’s playing is steeped in blues and post-bop, while his unique sound and soulful approach sets the standard for the group. He plays with fire and intensity whether playing an up-tempo tune, a beautiful ballad, or a Brazilian classic. Darren Radtke plays deep grooves and effortless melodies all with a warm and inviting bass sound. Dave Robbins’ dynamic drumming is explosively swinging one moment and beautifully whisper-soft the next. His exceptional brushwork adds just the right texture to a ballad and his solos are the perfect blend creativity and virtuosity.
