Another great run for you folks. Wednesday's run from the beautiful Bildeston Crown. Worth the trip just to eat and drink in the building alone!
The Bildeston Crown was originally a merchant’s house dating back to 1495, it soon became a coaching inn. It’s an amazing place that sits pride of place on Bildeston High Street.
The run is fantastic 7 miles through this fabulous part of Suffolk. Can be easily shortened, ask me on the night with this one.
Amazing views, thatched buildings, green lanes, streams, one of our finest water meadows and one of Suffolks best pubs at the end.
Little bit of history for you with this one.
Bildeston is one of sixteen place names in Suffolk that has a Danish personal name compounded with Anglo-Saxon tun. This indicates that Angles established a farming community here sometime in the sixth century and after East Anglia was settled by Danish soldiers as part of the Danelaw, a leader Bildr took over about the year 880. The oldest extant written record of Bildeston is in the Domesday Book of 1086........
and you can run through most of it on Wednesday!!
