Bike Tour: Trucks, Trains, Tugboats
About this Event
This 6-mile bike tour will explore the vast network of transportation and logistics infrastructure that circulates goods and materials through and around Newtown Creek. We'll take advantage of calmer Sunday traffic to traverse truck routes through industrial Maspeth, with stopping points to talk about maritime infrastructure, railroad crossings, and the "last-mile" megawarehouses popping up around the Creek.
Start: Manhattan Avenue Street End Park
End: East Williamsburg
We encourage those joining to be fairly comfortable bicyclists – this route has adverse street conditions and frequent truck traffic. We ask that all attendees fill out a liability waiver and photo consent form prior to joining, found .
Please bring your own bicycle (in good working condition!) and helmet, along with a water bottle, snacks, and weather-appropriate clothing. We will have limited staff in attendance to navigate and provide support.
