It’s impossible not to marvel at the views of the Pacific from up in these coastal mountains, where we set the table on a ridge line above the clouds. The drive up the steep grade by shuttle bus always leaves folks second guessing why they wanted to come, but we promise everyone leaves knowing it was worth it for this once-in-a-lifetime view. For Outstanding in the Field guests, there is no seat at the table more coveted. Participating as chef is also coveted. Chef Devin Lawrence participated last year as support with the big sur event for chef Jacob Burrell. Devin lobbied hard to get the position this year. Lawrence’s specialty is whole-animal, open flame cookery. He and his team source from farms actively engaged in holistic grazing, viewing their work as a reverent endeavor that honors the life of the animal. This event can be a spiritual experience on so many levels.
