Welcome to our BIG Ruckus Day !!
-BIG Ruckus Day V-
The Plan Sunday 18th January 2025
A tournament for 12 people. This will be a 3-game campaign.
What You Will Need
A Retinue of 12 Characters, 3 Heroes, 3 Fighters and 6 Shootists. While Ruckus is not strictly a WYSIWTG kind of game, it should be obvious to your opponent what each figure represents.
It does not matter what weapon your Heroes are armed with, but they should be wearing some kind of Armour, the Fighters should be armed with a long melee weapon, Spear, Billhook, Polearm, Glaive etc and the Shootists should be armed with Bows, Crossbows, Harquebuses or Javelins.
You will need to bring some dice, make sure you pack your lucky ones, half a dozen will be enough, one should be a different colour to the rest, a tape measure and all the Good Luck you can muster!
Rulebooks, Cards and Play sheets will be provided
Players are welcome to bring any of the approved Ruckus Retinues ie Irish, Anglo-Irish, HYW French or English, Swiss, Landsknechts or one of the experimental Retinues Spanish, Hussites, Burgundians, Outlaws, Barons Men or Ayyubids or one of your own devising as long as it conforms to the standard of three Heroes, three Fighters and six Shootists and has been checked by the TO before the tournament
I am more than happy to discuss possible Retinues and create rules for them, contact me at [email protected]
We would ask that players bring 28mm painted figures (minimum of 3 colours), unpainted figures will not be allowed.
I will bring spare Retinues for new players who do not have their own.
There will be a prize for the Top Retinue, the one that has scored most points in total a prize for the Player with the Toughest Character, the one that takes most Characters out of the game, and a prize for the Most Heroic Character, this will be the Character that has pulled off the most High-Risk or Very High-Risk Gambits. This will require a tally to be kept, 1 point for a HRG and 2 points for a VHRG. There will also be a prize for the for the best painted Retinue.
Scenarios
The first scenario will always be “Get Orf Moi Laaand!” second and third may be a River Runs Through It, Fog of War, Take the Bridge or Urban Brawl. Everyone will play GOML in the morning session, then we will have lunch and a “Best Painted” competition, then we dress the tables for the afternoon session.
The Games
This will not be a competitive tournament! We are playing for the fun of the experience and to learn more about the game. Every game is a playtest!
For the first round, experienced players will be drawn against newbies, after that I will work out a simple rotation system for players and scenarios.
Each player must start with a new unskilled Retinue although the Captain will have one Leadership Skill.
At the end of the First Round each Hero will gain a new skill, drawn randomly from the Agility, Strength or Shooting decks
At the end of the Second Round each Hero will gain a second skill, drawn randomly from the Agility, Strength or Shooting decks
We will not be using the Campaign rules, there will be no development through Valour Points and Characters removed from play will simply be restored after each game
Players can bring their own dice and tape measures
