Come and join us for a Big Queer Walk in the Chilterns!

We’ll be starting in Aldbury, following a circular route near the Ashridge estate and to the Ivinghoe Beacon, returning to Aldbury. The walk will be around 16km mainly on footpaths and bridleways, and is of moderate difficulty, with some small elevation.

Come and join us on this walk to meet new queer friends in nature!

Walk details:

The walk is a circular route starting at Aldbury, following the Ridgeway to Ivinghoe Beacon, and back via the Ashridge estate. It’s a beautiful walk totalling around 16km, with a total of around 300m ascent across the walk.

You will need to bring water and food for the day, but there are some stops to refill water. Please bring suncream and a hat, a layer, and sturdy footwear, and dress according to weather conditions. Remember you can always take layers off but you can’t add them if you don’t have them!

There will be comfort breaks. People need to able to walk and stand. There will be quiet breaks if needed.

Schedule (please note that these estimated times):

9:00am - Meet at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre

09:30am - Coach pickup from the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre

11:00am – Estimated arrival at Aldbury (drop-off point Aldbury Memorial Hall, The Green, Aldbury, Tring HP23 5RR)

11:15am-3:45pm – Walking activity (including breaks)

4pm – Coach pickup from Aldbury (pick-up point Aldbury Memorial Hall, The Green, Aldbury, Tring HP23 5RR)

5:30pm – Estimated arrival at London LGBTQ+ Community Centre

About the facilitator

Gavin is a transgender neurodivergent gay man who is passionate about the outdoors and its powerful impact on mental health and wellbeing. He has professional experience in leading walking groups, including working at an outdoors centre, as well as extensive personal experience in hiking all over the UK, especially in London and the South East.
