The Blue Moon Cowgirls are four Washington, DC–area musicians with a refreshing, rootsy take on country music. A shimmering trio of female voices backed by agile acoustic guitar, they sing about home and highways, heaven and honky‑tonks, heartbreak and hope. Their repertoire stretches from 1920s Appalachia to 1990s California, with stops in roadhouses and dance halls along the way. Country music’s sound has always been on the move, but its heart has stayed put—and the Blue Moon Cowgirls can take you right there.
A DC-based progressive bluegrass band featuring the duet singing of Dede Wyland and Randy Barrett. The group offers a mix of original songs plus reinterpretations of classic country, bluegrass and roots material. Dede is a nationally recognized vocalist while Randy is a well-established singer songwriter and banjoist. Together with Ira Gitlin on bass and Tom McLaughlin on mandolin, Big Howdy sounds unlike any other band. And that's the way they like it
