Beyond The Latch: Trauma, Regulation & Healing in Lactation Care
About this Event
Tickets available for full day or afternoon-only sessions ($108.55-$161.90 including fees).
Join us for an educational day with Danielle Gauss, IBCLC as she covers the breastfeeding topics of providing support to survivors of sexual assault and body work interventions for infant oral ties and restrictions. Each dyad brings their own set of circumstances and personal experiences that we must be nimble in addressing; these can include a history of sexual assualt. Educating ourselves on ways to better support these survivors and avoid traps for retraumatization not only makes us more effective breastfeeding supporters but is our professional responsibilty. When working with infants with oral restrictions, are we taking a wide enough view on how to support families? Can we better support them in their choices for intervention or healing post-frenectomy?
