Critical minerals: who captures the value, who bears the risk? A panel on financing a just transition for producer nations.
About this Event

There is no climate transition without transition minerals. How they are governed will decide whether decarbonisation delivers development and prosperity for producer countries, or simply repeats extractive patterns under a green label.

This session, convened by Resource Justice Network and Oxfam America with the support of ActionAid Denmark, brings together finance and policy experts from civil society organisations rooted in producer regions. Together we will build a shared understanding of two of the biggest lived challenges in minerals governance (finance and market power, and connected mineral diplomacy) and of the structural alternatives that run through both.

As traditional routes for civil-society influence narrow, we will look at the political opportunities in front of us, including UNFCCC processes and the United Kingdom’s G20 and G7 presidencies, to start building a shared action agenda.
