Beyond Beauty is the barrier-breaking story of the first Black woman to win the title of Mrs. Universe®, and an unflinching look behind a stage the world only ever sees from the front row.
Attorney, author, and advocate Juanita Ingram wore that crown. Part documentary, part unscripted reality, shot in close and unguarded vérité, the series moves through her title year: the glamour and the grit, the private hours behind the public shine, and the price of standing where no one expected her.
What the crown reveals is far bigger than any pageant. It is the daily arithmetic of being a Black woman in rooms built for someone else: read one way when you meant another, asked to be strong enough to carry everyone yet soft enough to unsettle no one, judged by a ruler that keeps shifting for your color, your size, the tone you never took. The stage only turns up the volume on what too many live in silence, from the spotlight to the boardroom. It is a story about being seen on your own terms, and what that costs.

After the screening, Juanita sits down with Michelle Miller for the conversation. A New York Times bestselling author and an Emmy and Edward R. Murrow award-winning journalist, Miller spent two decades at CBS News, as a longtime network correspondent and a co-host of CBS Saturday Morning, telling the nation's hardest stories, and eventually her own, with uncommon honesty. Her bestselling memoir Belonging: A Daughter's Search for Identity Through Loss and Love turns that lens inward, on identity, family, and resilience. There are few people better suited to draw this one out: a conversation on identity, representation, and what it takes to be seen, and to hold the door for who comes next.
