Between Block and Void is a curated ceramic exhibition exploring Kurinuki, a traditional Japanese ceramic technique in which form emerges through subtraction. Instead of building a vessel by adding clay, artists begin with a solid block and slowly carve away material, creating both form and void.

Presented by Shambhala Art in collaboration with Art Incept Studio, the exhibition brings together a collection of handmade ceramic works by contemporary studio potters. The works move between functional objects and sculptural forms, exploring carving, texture, layering, surface, and the natural character of clay.

Kurinuki leaves behind visible tool marks, irregular walls, and traces of the artist`s hand. No two pieces are exactly alike. The process is as important as the finished object, inviting us to look at ceramics not simply as craft or utility, but as a meeting point between object, sculpture, and artistic process.

The exhibition is designed as a lifestyle led presentation, allowing ceramic works to be experienced in settings that connect them to everyday living while retaining their individuality as works of art.

Whether you are an art and design enthusiast, a ceramic lover, a collector, or simply curious about handmade objects, Between Block and Void offers an opportunity to experience the quiet, tactile, and meditative world of Kurinuki.

Shambhala Art`s larger intent is to make studio pottery visible, vibrant, and valued as a contemporary artistic practice.
