Performing Belief by Kalakaar Art Salon
Kalakaar Art Salon presents Performing Belief, a group exhibition exploring ritual as practice and metaphor through modern, folk, tribal, and contemporary visual art.
Curated by Rahul Kumar, the exhibition brings together works by 22 artists, including S. H. Raza, F. N. Souza, M. F. Husain, Sohan Qadri, G. R. Santosh, Jamini Roy, Haku Shah, and other leading names. Through paintings and mixed-media works spanning generations, Performing Belief examines ritual beyond religion, as memory, material, repetition, labour, and lived experience, while placing modern Indian masters in dialogue with contemporary artistic practices.
Marking the first exhibition under Kalakaar Art Salon's renewed curatorial direction, Performing Belief invites visitors to explore the evolving connections between mythology, folk traditions, collective memory, and contemporary concerns including migration, ecology, gender, and identity.
