About this Event
Each day, 17 people die while waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. Every 9 minutes another person is added to the waiting list.
Organ donation is a rare and powerful gift that cannot be provided without support and collaboration between TOSA and our hospital partners. This 4-hour course provides insight into the organ donation process and how you can play a vital role in honoring decisions to donate while giving hope to recipients and donor families.
This course will be divided into four sections:
1) Donation Overview
Learn more about TOSA and the regulatory requirements in place to support the donation process.
2) Brain Death and Circulatory Death
Explore the two pathways to donation and engage in scenarios to help prepare you for complex donation situations.
3) Donation Discussions and Organ Allocation
Gain insight into the donation discussions that take place between TOSA and families and acquire a deeper understanding of the requirements in place to match donors with recipients.
4) Personal Stories
Hear from a donor family and a transplant recipient as they share their personal stories and experiences.
Four CE hours will be provided to attendees who are present for the entire event and submit a post-test with a score of 90% or higher. We hope to see you there!
