Berlin Django Project combines original compositions from the core group members along with traditional and modern Gypsy-swing, jazz and Chanson. The band represents a microcosm of the cultural melting pot that is Berlin, and captures a unique raw energy as well as a fresh approach to the musical style originally pioneered by the great Manouche guitarist Django Reinhardt.
Sofiane Atta is known in Berlin for his energetic and moveable playing on almost all saxophones and clarinets. In the field of traditional jazz and rag time, he has brought his clarinet and soprano sax playing to amazing virtuosity. But also in the more modern jazz of the 50s/60s he is a powerful voice on the tenor.
Das Berliner Django-Projekt kombiniert Originalkompositionen der Kerngruppenmitglieder zusammen mit traditionellen und modernen Gypsy-Swing, Jazz und Chanson. Die Band repräsentiert einen Mikrokosmos des kulturellen Schmelztiegels, der Berlin ist, und fängt eine einzigartige rohe Energie sowie eine frische Herangehensweise an den musikalischen Stil ein, der ursprünglich vom großen Manouche-Gitarristen Django Reinhardt entwickelt wurde.
