Berkeley Marina and Aquatic Park | Berkeley, CA
About this Event
We will explore Berkeley's Acquatic Park and Marina, their history and evolution, and the many ways the city's waterfront areas provide habitat for wildlife and recreation for people. Along with panoramic views, we are likely to see birds, sailboats, houseboats, kites, and more—all along fairly level terrain.
This is one of the many walks featured in the just released 3rd edition of Berkeley Walks (Heyday Books) by Bob Johnson and Janet Byron.

Where to Meet
We'll meet where Addison Street ends at Bolivar Way in Berkeley's Aquatic Park. If coming by car on I-80, exit at University Avenue heading east. Turn right at 6th Street and right again after one block onto Addison.
On 4th Street and Addison, east of the railroad tracks, there is metered parking that does not seem to apply on Sundays. There may be a space or two on Addison west of the railroad tracks. Do not go right where Addison ends at Bolivar Drive, as the Animal Shelter now has only two hour parking for users of local businesses. Instead turn left on Bolivar Drive which is one way. Between the road and the bicycle/pedestrian track there are some areas of parking on a kind of gravel surface with white stall markers. There should be quite a few spaces available, but you may have to go farther along. Do not park in the handicap or striped loading zones.
By public transit, take the AC Transit 51B bus from downtown Berkeley or other locations. Get off at 4th Street, cross left under the University Avenue overpass and go right on Addison Street. Continue across the railroad tracks to Bolivar Drive.
Notes
Bring water and lunch. Dress in layers and wear good walking shoes. If you have questions about this outing, please email Ken Lavin at [email protected].
