Benn Clatworthy is a truly impressive modern jazz tenor saxophonist who was rated by the late Ronnie Scott as one of the best UK players that he had heard. Although born in London Benn has been resident in California since 1980, but returns to perform in the UK on a regular basis - however due to the pandemic this is his first visit to us since 2019.
In the late 80s Benn was recommended to Discovery Records by Horace Silver, resulting in his first album “Thanks Horace.” Since then he has gone on to establish himself as a musician of impressive pedigree and talent, working with the likes of The Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, Billy Higgins, Cab Calloway, Cedar Walton, Bobby Shew and Cyndi Lauper.

On his last visit Benn performed as a quintet, to keep things fresh tonight tonight he appears with a quartet with Andy Hague switching from trumpet to drums, the mighty Jim Blomfield on piano and Riaan Vosloo - bass.
