We're doing a benefit concert for ArtStream, Inc. at the The Auld Shebeen in Fairfax with The Last Chance Garage Band, the Dead Parrot Experience, and the Punch Buggies. With good music, good food, good people, these are always great fun!ArtStream uses theater to empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to explore performing arts, build social skills, and connect with peers in a supportive environment. In classes, workshops, and rehearsals, theater asks them to listen, engage, communicate, and collaborate.
ArtStream’s programs empower ArtStreamers to discover their creativity and strengths. And every time they perform—whether on stage or in the classroom —they stand a little taller. The magic of performance transforms not only the participants themselves but also our Teaching Artists, Volunteer Mentors, and the audiences who cheer them on. Together, we raise expectations of what people with disabilities can achieve.
