School of Education Symposium
About this Event

The School of Education at the University of Chester will host its annual symposium on 24th June, bringing together colleagues, partners and researchers to explore how education can shape more hopeful futures for children and young people.

Framed around the theme Belonging, Learning and Leading for Hopeful Futures, the symposium will showcase a diverse range of work from across the School and its partnerships. The programme brings together research, practice and professional learning, with a focus on three key areas:

  • Inclusion, Belonging and Community exploring identity, relationships and how education supports all learners to feel seen, supported and able to thrive
  • Curriculum, Innovation and Hopeful Futures highlighting creative, forward-looking approaches to teaching and learning
  • Leadership, Systems and Professional Learning examining how leadership and collaboration enable meaningful and sustained change

A central feature of the day will be a whole-symposium session led by RECAP (Research into Education, Creativity and Arts through Practice) research centre. This session will bring colleagues together to discuss their new book entitled Critical Learning Through Creative Research Practices and how this can shape educational practice.

The symposium will also include interactive workshops, research papers, and a creative drop-in space showcasing pupil-led arts practice, highlighting the importance of creativity and the arts within education.

This event reflects the School of Education’s ongoing commitment to connecting research, practice and partnership, and to supporting educators in shaping inclusive, innovative and hopeful futures.
