Step back in time and celebrate one of Manchester’s most iconic entertainment destinations at our Belle Vue & Gorton FREE Family Fun Day 2026 - a joyful, heritage-inspired event for all ages.
Held lovingly here at The Monastery each year, this free community event brings the spirit of Belle Vue back to life through stories, exhibitions, and family-friendly activities in a truly unique setting.
A Celebration of Manchester’s Heritage
For over 150 years, Belle Vue was known as the “Showground of the World,” with its zoological garden, circus, fair, speedway, dancing, boxing, wrestling, fireworks, music, and more.
This special event invites you to explore that rich history, whether you remember Belle Vue fondly or are discovering its story for the first time.
Entry to the Family Fun Day is completely FREE with a complimentary ticket!

Enjoy family-friendly activities throughout the day all wrapped up in a a welcoming community atmosphere. Take your time to explore, learn, and enjoy a day that connects past and present in the heart of Manchester.
🐾 Interactive Animal Handling Experience
We may not have a zoo exactly(!) but we’re excited to offer an optional 1-hour interactive animal handling workshop, suitable for all ages. Animals include an owl, a snake, a tarantula and many more!
Additional charge applies, limited availability – early booking advised.
Tickets cost £8.50 (+ booking fee) per person, or £30 (+ booking fee) for groups of 4.
This activity must be booked in advance.
First Session 12-1pm
Second Session 1.30-2.30pm
Entry to the Family Fun Day is completely free with a complimentary ticket.*
*Donations are warmly welcomed to support The Monastery Charitable Trust and help us continue our work in the community.
