Beinn a’ Bheithir is a stand-alone mountain range in a commanding position over land and sea at the junction
of two spectacular sea-lochs. The Dragon’s Tooth is a prominent feature of the route below. It stands astride the head of Gleann a’ Chaolais, unnamed on maps, unclassified, but imposing at its Corbett height. Moreover, it provides a quick and interesting route to either or both the Munros.
Start from the Glenachulishᵉˣ CP just S of the powerhouse at NN047589. Follow the forest road S for about 0.7Km, fork left across a bridge and immediately turn S up a narrow track. Follow this, across forest road at NN047575, and climb the steep path to the next forest road at NN049573. The path continues up E up
some large steps at first, then turns S to reach the corrie E of the spur known locally as the “Dragon’s Tooth”. Locate a junction in the fence-line at the S extent of the clear-felled forest area, WP NN049⁵⁵561⁴⁵.
*Leave the path here and head NW on a rising traverse to reach the foot of a steep grassy ramp at WP NN045⁹³564³⁸. Climb the ramp to reach the crest of the ridge at WP NN045⁰⁹564⁰⁰. Climb the ridge and follow its crest S. There are some scrambling opportunities, one with a tricky descent that may be avoided
on the E side. The spur joins with the E ridge of Sgorr Dhonuill, which is climbed to its summit. Return down the E ridge and continue down to col at 757mˡʳ. Climb to the summit of Sgorr Dhearg and return to the col. Descend N on a path to re-join the outward route and return to the start.

This route takes in a fine pair of Grahams affording splendid views of their bigger, well-known neighbours in and around Glen Coe and Ballachulish.
Start from the CP at the Coop, Ballachulish, NN083584. Walk SW up East Laroch, cross the River Laroch on the footbridge and turn immediately S up to the primary school at the top of the village. Continue S on the track past some farm buildings. The track deteriorates to a path heading S in Gleann an Fhiodh and
rises steadily on the W side of the River Laroch. Just before a large cairn at NN068548, fork left to cross the river * and climb more steeply S to the col, Mam Uchdaichᵉˣ at NN065540, about 390m alt. Turn NE along the ridge and up to the summit of Sgorr a’Choise, 663m, after a further 2 Km. Descend SE, over a
small summit, turning E to reach the watershed at NN097547. Climb steeply NE, curving N up the broad ridge to the rocky crest of Meall Mor and turn NE to reach its summit. Retrace steps for 2-300m, then curve NW around the rim of Coire nan Cuilcᵉˣ and descend the N ridge to the forest track on the col, 342mᵉˣ. Turn right on the track and soon left at a junction to climb a narrower track up to the summit of Am Meallᵉˣ, 414m. Cross the stile by the communications tower and head NW down the open hillside
along the forest boundary. At the corner of the forest just above the quarry turn left and follow the path around its rim and down to the Ballachulish Coop CP.
*For a shorter day, or if rivers are in spate, omit Sgorr a’ Choise:- Climb Am Meallᵉˣ first, reversing the route above from the Ballachulish Coop CP. From the mast, descend S on an ATV track to col at 342mᵉˣ on the forest road. Head S up pathless terrain, now clear-felled, to the NW spur of Meall Mor. Follow its crest
SE, curving NE up to its summit. Return to the forest road, head E and follow it down to the NTS Visitor Centre CP. Transport required. Or walk back 3km to Ballachulish on the cycle track.
