Part of the N Kingairloch Horseshoe, these three hills in the wilderness of Morven make a fine expedition over its two highest points. In summer we would be doing the entire horseshoe. The route described below takes in about half of it, anticlockwise, but can just as easily be walked clockwise. Good views down Loch
Linnhe.
Start at Glengalmadale, NM866530, where limited off-road parking is available. Cross the road bridge W, then immediately head N on the track into Glen Galmadale. This deteriorates to a boggy path along the W bank of the river. As the ground steepens toward the head of the glen, climb N up the slope on the W side of the prominent burn, Dubh-alltanแตหฃ, issuing from the corrie above. At WP NM876โธโน571โทโธ, turn W and climb the steep rocky ridge that curves NW to reach the summit of Creach Bheinn. The OS Camp lies in a small col about 100m N at NM870โธยณ577โดโฐ. Return to the Corbett summit. Descend W to cross a broad col then climb SW, curving SE to the summit of Fuar Bheinn. Descend S for about 1.5Km to the * Bealach Coire Mhich Gugainแตหฃ, then climb the slope ahead to reach the summit of Beinn na Cille. Descend SSE. The gradient gradually steepens towards the plantation at the base of the ridge. Keep W of the crags and the gorge. Pass around the N corner of the plantation and follow its boundary down to the B8043. Return to the start.
* From the Bealach Coire Mhich Gugainแตหฃ a direct return to Glen Galmadale omits Beinn na Cille: Turn E down into the corrie and descend, keeping well to the N of the Allt Coire Mhich Gugainแตหฃ for the easiest gradients. On approaching the lower slopes, curve S, cross the burn. and converge with the main footpath in
Glen Galmadale near the dammed reservoir.
