Join host David Lombardo for Saturday’s edition of Behind the Glass as we shine a spotlight on one of the most successful and defining record producers in rock history: Ted Templeman.
David will lead us through a two-hour curated listening session celebrating Templeman’s legendary career at Warner Bros. Records. Known for his pristine sonic punch, dynamic live-in-the-studio feel, and razor-sharp ear for hit arrangements, Templeman helped forge the signature sound of classic arena rock and West Coast pop.
The Program:
The Golden Ear: A deep dive into Templeman's signature production techniques—from capturing raw, unfiltered band energy to layering polished, multi-part harmonies.
The Heavy Hits: Featuring his game-changing work with Van Halen, whose explosive 1978 debut redefined hard rock sound and studio presentation.
West Coast & Classic Cuts: Highlights from his vast catalog of hits with a diverse collection of artists such as The Doobie Brothers, Montrose, Van Morrison, Allan Holdsworth and Little Feat.
Our audiophile system will accentuate every roaring guitar track, crisp drum transient, and wide studio separation in full high fidelity.
Grab a drink, take your seat, and hear the timeless tracks that defined an era of rock production!
It's not just the bands and artists that make your favorite music. Each month KC record collector and record store personality David Lombardo takes you Behind the Glass to the other side of the studio, focusing on a different Music Producer or Engineer. David will share stories, anecdotes, trivia, and of course, the RECORDS they have helped bring to life!
All of this great music will be played on The Listyning Room's world-class stereo system featuring high-end equipment by Audio Note, Perlisten and Cambridge Audio.
Support Center For Recorded Music 501(c)(3) with a $20 donation. Includes admission, snacks, and 3 complimentary drinks—from beer, cocktails or wine to refreshing non-alcoholic choices.
Seating at The Listyning Room is on a first-come first-seated basis. Donate in advance to secure a spot for these exclusive events. If any spots are left open, donations will be accepted at the door.
