An Evening with Peter Case - The Nerves Record Release
A Center For Recorded Music and Waldo Folk Special Event!
Power-pop legend Peter Case joins us live at The Listyning Room for an intimate conversation spanning his iconic career, followed by a full playback of The Nerves Best Collection, hitting the shelves on October 23rd, 2026 from Third Man Records.
Before fronting The Plimsouls and launching his acclaimed solo journey, Peter Case co-founded The Nerves—the influential 1970s trio that defined West Coast power-pop and gifted the world the timeless classic "Hanging on the Telephone." This special evening offers a rare look into the roots of American DIY rock culture straight from one of its primary architects.
We’ll kick off with a live, candid Q&A with Peter exploring the glory days of the Los Angeles underground scene, the songwriting process behind power-pop's golden era, and the legacy of The Nerves. Afterwards, we’ll dim the lights and spin the brand-new Best Collection release in its entirety on our reference-grade audio system, capturing every crunchy guitar chord, soaring harmony, and driving rhythm in hi-fi detail.
Limited to 50 seats! Doors at 6:30, program starts at 7:00 pm.
Secure your seats early, grab a drink from the bar, and share an unforgettable night with a true music pioneer.
Your $40 donation goes to support Center For Recorded Music 501(c)(3). Includes admission, snacks, and 3 complimentary beverages - from beer, cocktails or wine to refreshing non-alcoholic choices.
Seating at The Listyning Room is on a first-come first-seated basis. Donate in advance to secure a spot for these exclusive events. If any spots are left open, donations will be accepted at the door.
The Listyning Room is located inside the nbkc building - at 3510 W. 95th Street, Leawood, KS 66206 - on the north side of Ranch Mart. There is plenty of parking next to the building.
