About this Event

This course is held on 2 consecutive Saturdays: June 6th and June 13th, from 10:30 am-2:30 pm on both days.

Technical Level: Beginner

Many photographers are finding Adobe Lightroom Classic to be the perfect tool for organizing, processing, and enhancing images. This beginner Lightroom course shows you step-by-step how to take control of your digital photography workflow.

Discover the most efficient method for downloading images into Lightroom and organizing them. Quickly import and manage your photo collection in a library that makes finding and editing your photos easy. Learn the best way to make global and tonal corrections to your images and take advantage of new world-class noise reduction capabilities. Convert images to black and white, as well as add tonal overlays and film grain textures.

Topics Covered:

Library module: Setting Up Lightroom: The Right Way from the Start

Importing Images: From a card and a hard drive

Organizing folders, creating new folders without losing the Lightroom link.

Sorting and rating

Creating collections for specific projects.

The Develop module: Editing Your RAW, TIFF, and JPEG Images like a Pro

Using Lightroom for Global Adjustments: Exposure, curves, split tones, sharpening, and noise reduction

Understanding the dynamic range of the histogram

Setting Camera and lens profiles

Export options: Creating presets for specific jobs, using the emailing feature within Lightroom, or using Publish Services.

What to Bring:

This is a hands-on workshop focused on image organization and editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic. You will need approximately 50 image files, ideally from the same shoot (RAW preferred, but JPEG is acceptable), to participate fully in the exercises.

Bring Your Own Laptop
  • Ensure that Adobe Lightroom Classic is installed and working.
Adobe offers a free 7-day trial here: https://www.adobe.com/download/lightroom-classic
  • Your photos must be stored locally on your laptop or on a connected external drive.
Do not rely on cloud storage during the class — images need to be available offline for reliability and performance.

If you do not have your own images, sample photos will be provided.

*NOTE: This is a Lightroom Classic course (same as older Lightroom version 5-6/CC). NOT Cloud Lightroom.

Cancellation Policy: Refund requests must be made in writing at least 30 days prior to the event. No refunds or credits will be given with less than 30 days’ notice.

Instructor Bio: Natasha Calzatti. Upon receiving her BFA in Photography from Otis Parsons School of Design, Natasha Calzatti, a photographer and digital retoucher, went on to shoot award-winning photography for THE NEW YORK TIMES, NEWSWEEK, PEOPLE, and VIBE, and has been syndicated internationally. Her work is represented in many private collections and has been shown publicly in Los Angeles and, more recently, in Portland, Oregon’s Black Box Gallery. Simultaneous to her photography career, Natasha found herself at the cutting edge of imaging as it transitioned from the chemical darkroom to the digital darkroom, where her abilities became increasingly in demand for magazine clients, TV Guide, Marie Claire, Time Magazine, The Source, and Vibe, as well as advertising clients Midas, MCI, and Dreyfus. Ms. Calzatti was invited to The Getty Center to share her behind-the-camera experiences of Cuba as she presented an in-gallery exploration of A Revolutionary Project: Cuba from Walker Evans to Now. Today, Ms. Calzatti divides her time between shooting assignments and lecturing on digital imaging issues both in the U.S. and abroad. You can see her current work at www.calzattifoto.com.
