Sat. & Sun., February 22 & 23, 9AM- 3PM. This workshop is geared to the novice. After many inquiries and prodding, here it is. An adult must take this class with their child out of safety concerns; we're using a power hammer .That requires constant oversight. Our most recent using our power hammer worked perfectly. This workshop is limited to four students. We will be introduced to both coal and propane forges. We will begin with safety, tools, & history. We will heat, cut, shape, and drift steel initially with the making of one or more "j" hooks. We will take an old hammer head and transform it into a blade tool through heating, cutting, and shaping. We will heat treat and temper our tool. Day 2 will involve shaping, fitting and fixing a wooden handle as well further refining your tomahawk head. You bring bag lunch, non-synthetic gloves, clothing, and footwear, Safety eyewear with side shields, and 2.5 lb. pein or machinist type hammer. Cost: $195 for the two day workshop. Call: 207-205-4849 to register.
