Beginners Mixed Media

In this hands-on class beginners will dive into the vibrant and layered world of mixed media.

You’ll explore the creative process in three stages: sketching and writing about your chosen subject, transferring your design to paper, and then bringing your painting or drawing to life with ink, watercolor, colored pencils, chalk and more!

Along the way, you’ll enjoy instructor demonstrations of key techniques and learn how to use sketches, notes, and memories to develop a piece that feels complete and satisfying.

Whether you're new to mixed media or looking to deepen your skills, this class will help you develop a richer understanding of mixed media and bringing your ideas to life.

By the end of the course, you'll not only have new skills and artwork to show for it, but a deeper understanding of how different materials can work together to create powerful, character-rich art.

About the instructor: "My name is Sergio Martinez (on IG, @_bella.noche_ ) and I am a private art instructor based out of Springfield. I trained and apprenticed under Niko Chocheli's Atelier (2017-2022) in PA. I have been teaching mixed media painting and drawing in a variety of institutions and privately for 5 years. My teaching has a focus on both beginners and intermediate artists, I provide personalized instruction tailored to each student's needs and interests, fostering an encouraging environment for artistic exploration and growth.
