Head to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales for a day of learning and fun on our 1-day Beginner Navigation Skills course – good navigation skills are your passport to freedom on the hills. This map reading course will empower you to plan and follow your own walks in the countryside.
Our 1-day Beginner Navigation Skills courses are enjoyable, informative and fun. Learning is informal, relaxed and supportive, with plenty of practical experience out in the Yorkshire Dales countryside with a small group of like-minded people. This 1-day Map Reading course will introduce you to the key skills needed to plan and follow your own walks in the countryside using paths, tracks and Rights of Way.
This Beginner Navigation Skills course is suitable for all ages and abilities from beginners to more experienced countryside walkers who want to fill knowledge gaps and enhance the enjoyment of their walks.
We'll cover: planning, essential kit, weather, decision making, understanding maps, navigation strategies, using your compass, visualising the route ahead, always knowing where you are, cognitive 'active' navigation, relocation plus much more!
