Boffering refers to using homemade padded mock weapons to engage in simulated battles. Read more about it here:

In this class led by a boffer-loving teenager, your teens and mature tweens will make their own boffer and learn some techniques for using them in "battle." There will then be a time of practice and free play with them. If this class is a hit, there will be more in the future.
I will post a list of required supplies soon, as you are asked to obtain and prepare your materials before the class for safety reasons (some heavy cutting/sawing may be required), and so that we can dive right in to making the boffers.
This class is geared toward teens, but please use your discretion as to whether your younger child is ready to participate. Some sharp materials will be used in the making process, and the battles can be rowdy.
There is a playground nearby for younger siblings along for the ride.
