From Fabric to Folio: A Three-Part Journey into Traditional Bookbinding
Have you ever wondered how beautiful handmade books are created? Join us for an immersive three-session workshop where you'll learn the timeless art of traditional bookbinding from start to finish.
Over the course of three consecutive classes, students will explore the fundamentals of hand bookbinding while creating their very own hardcover book. Beginning with the creation of custom book cloth, you'll learn the foundational techniques used by bookbinders. Next, you'll sew together your book's signatures (pages) using classic binding methods before completing the process with a professionally styled case binding.
Throughout this hands-on workshop, students will gain experience with specialized tools, materials, and techniques while learning the craftanship behind handmade books. Whether you're a paper crafter, journal enthusiast, artist, writer, or simply someone who loves creating with your hands, this class offers a rewarding introduction to a centuries-old art form.
By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with:
A completed handbound hardcover book
Knowledge of bookbinding techniques
Experience creating your own book cloth
Signature sewing and page assembly skills

Confidence to continue exploring bookbinding on your own
No prior experience is necessary. Beginners are welcome.
