Beginner Basketry: Crochet Stitch and Mixed Fibers

Students in this class will learn how to create a basket using various core materials and holding the piece together with a crochet stitch. Students will also learn how to wrap fabric and other materials around their core material to add additional interest.

We will use a variety of mixed fibers in this project and students can bring materials from home such as fabric scraps, yarn leftovers, buttons, etc. to add some personal touches to their piece.

About the teacher:

Lauren O'Neill is a school librarian by day and an artist by weekend. When she isn't teaching about libraries, theatre, and puppetry at school; she can be found cutting up old materials and recycling them into fine art collages, basketry, and home decor items.
