Saturday & Sunday, July 20th & 21st + Sunday, August 11thThis class is for beginning weavers who want to learn how to weave on a 4-harness floor or table loom. No previous weaving experience is necessary, but rigid heddle weavers and and those looking to refresh or improve upon their skills are also welcome. You will learn the parts of a loom, how to read a draft, calculate yarn needed for warp, and how to thread a loom.
Students will create a scarf, table runner, place mats, or hand towels. A variety of weaving yarns are available at the shop. We are suggesting 8/2 cotton, 5/2 cotton, 3/2 cotton or Harrisville Shetland or Highland yarns. There will be time during class to pick out yarns.
We will meet for a weekend intensive and then once more two weeks later to learn how to finish your project. You will need to come in and work on your loom outside of class time - an estimated 15-20 hours. Please note that normal shop hours are Wednesday-Saturday, 11am-5pm.
Class times are as follows:
Saturday, July 20th from 9:00am-5:00pm *1 hour lunch break
Sunday, July 21st from 9:00am-4:00pm *1 hour lunch break
Sunday, August 11th from 9:00am-11:00am
Cost is $428 and includes 3 weeks of loom rental ($63). If you have your own loom that you'd like to use, cost is $365. If you will be bringing your own loom, please know that it is in working order with all of its parts.
Materials will be available for purchase and will cost $30-$60 depending on your yarn choices and the size of your project. You are also welcome to bring your own materials.
