Javier will talk about his award-winning book, Live from America: How Latino TV Conquered the U.S., and sign copies following the conversation.
Winner of the 2026 Publishers Weekly BookLife Prize in Nonfiction, Live from America explores the remarkable rise of Spanish-language television in the United States. The book traces the personal rivalries, hidden tensions, political maneuvering, cultural shifts, and business decisions behind the media empire that became Univision—and examines how its news, music, soccer, and telenovelas helped shape American culture and Latino identity.
Javier Marin is a journalist, author, and media entrepreneur who has owned Spanish-language media outlets in the United States since 2000. He co-owns Tiempo Company, which operates Spanish-language media organizations in Washington, D.C., and Boston, and he is closely associated with El Planeta. Javier completed Harvard Business School’s Owner/President Management Program and lives in Maine with his wife, Carolina.
