BECOME PV workshop

Research efforts created high optimism that new materials systems, like metal-halide perovskites, can revolutionize the field of photovoltaics and even help to accelerate the energy transition. Both record-breaking single and multi-junction results opened a wide interest again in solar energy and even brought photovoltaics back to the attention of investors.

It is clear though that quite a few challenges remain before this new emerging pv technology will be ready to enter the market. While a variety of process technologies have been explored, effective scalability and high throughput production of complete solar modules isn’t validated. Also, stability and reliability in real working conditions is a matter that isn’t unraveled yet. And even when a start has been made in the commercialization, further improvements will be needed to ensure full sustainability, circularity, and integration in novel applications.

Research at higher technology readiness level and strong collaboration with relevant industrial players will be key to bridge the gap between high hopes and real commercialization of new emerging PV technologies. This workshop has the ambition to bring together leading research teams, interested SMEs and industry, potential end-users, and representative organizations to discuss how we can strengthen each other’s efforts to create a new, world-changing renewable energy system based on the most promising PV technology of recent times.
