Beaufort Music Festival is excited to present Purple Schoolbus with Jump Mountain at Carteret Community Theatre! Formed during the early 1990s, in Greenville, NC Purple Schoolbus quickly established themselves as a staple of the Southeastern live music circuit. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant Greenville music scene, the band built a loyal following through their energetic performances and original songwriting. Their commitment to crafting unique, improvisational music set them apart and helped shape the region’s jam band culture. Their self-titled debut arrived in 1994, followed by Phoenicia Blind in 1995, and in 2026 their new project “Movin’On” has just been released.
All these recordings are currently available on streaming platforms. Purple Schoolbus is a powerful ensemble featuring Scott Scala-Drums, Bernie Taylor-Bass and Vocals, Mark Harris-Saxophones and Kevin Sledge-Guitar and Vocals. The “Bus” has played hundreds of awe-inspiring live performances. Their tours have taken them all over the country, from the East Coast to the Rockies and all points between!
Purple Schoolbus is an original band playing original music…the way it’s supposed to be! With their grooves, harmonies and jams they are often described as a cross between the Grateful Dead and Widespread Panic but best described as a “Southern Fried Jam Band”!
Jump Mountain is a Raleigh based roots band with influences ranging from Old Crow Medicine Show, Folk Soul Revival, Jason Isbell, The Avett Brothers, The Black Lillies, Drive by Truckers, The Grateful Dead, and the Gourds... Their sound and style is sure to kick off the vibe of this night perfectly.
