Amazing offerings for the evening:
Doors: 6:45p
Movement lab: 6:55-7:15p
Lead. Follow. Flow.
What happens when one person leads with clarity and the other chooses to trust?
In this 20-minute movement experience, Joshua Finch will guide participants through simple partner-based exercises that cultivate presence, connection, and embodied communication. Beginning with breath, grounding, and co-regulation, we'll explore a handful of intuitive lead-and-follow movements that anyone can enjoy—no dance experience required.
Rather than memorizing choreography, you'll learn to listen through movement, communicate without words, and discover the playful conversation that unfolds when leadership and surrender are both met with trust.
Come curious. Leave connected.
Opening circle: 7:15p (doors closed temporarily for circle)
Live DJ: 7:25-9:05p: DJ Osiah

As a dance doula, Osiah is here to help birth you through the portal of self-expression into a state of fully liberated ecstasy. His mixes are genre-bending, full spectrum experiences where no feeling is off limits, no music too taboo, where emotional archetypes are woven together to tell a story that the body understands. He guides you on a journey from stillness to chaos and then back home, keeping you in that place beyond thought, in that present moment primal feeling, redefining what is holy, wholesome and spiritual. So come twerk yourself to freedom.

Guidelines
-VOICES on the dance floor: The dance floor is a talk-free zone. This allows dancers to engage in movement as a meditation, to go within, and to be more embodied without distraction in proximity.
-VOICES off the dance floor: We have created a tea lounge and chill space off the dance floor and quiet voices are encouraged in order to engage with others in a different way when you're not dancing.
-SHOELESS: We ask that you are shoeless in the space. If you have a physical reason to wear shoes, you are welcome to - we simply ask that they are not shoes you wear on the street.
-RESPECT: Be respectful of yourself, of others, and of the space/venue.
-PHONES: the dance floor and chill spaces are phone free zones. This allows dancers to be present fully.
Beat Church was started in San Francisco in the early 2000s by the amazing DJ, Neptune, who saw a need for a new cutting edge underground dance offering.
We want to continue and build on that tradition here in Asheville for the existing vibrant dance community.
