Asheville Fusion Dance is a fusion dance initiative birthed out of a local, community-led desire to bring a sustainable, authentic, and connection-focused fusion scene back to the greater Asheville area.
Come out and dance with us at Uphora Dance Studio in West Asheville, where a smooth sprung floor, a high-end sound system, and a great lighting set-up are ready to welcome you into a full night of connected dancing!
No matter if you are new to fusion dancing or if you are a seasoned dancer, Asheville Fusion Dance is so excited to welcome you to be a part of our community.

7pm-8pm - Lesson: Micro Lines, Shapes, and Textures
Instructor: Em Dobberstein
Em is a fusion DJ, instructor, and Asheville Fusion Dance organizer. Traditional blues was her gateway into partner dance in 2016, but she quickly spread her dance experience through fusion, contra, swing, Latin, and more over the past 10 years. Em’s favorite fusion dances are built on creative musicality, deep connection, and melty micro, and her DJ sets and fusion lessons are curated intentionally through this lens.
Lesson Topic: Micro Lines, Shapes, and Textures -
Em will take us on a deeper dive into some lines, shapes, and textures that we can use to build connected and clear movements in micro fusion. This class will be a practice-heavy continuation lesson taught mostly in close-embrace position and will be most accessible to folks who have danced fusion before. Beginners are welcome, but the lesson pacing will feel fast if you are not familiar with basic partner dance concepts.
