FRĒKWINSEA
FRĒKWINSEA is an Asheville local stepping into a long-held dream of curating ecstatic dance journeys. After nearly eight years of dancing and being deeply inspired by ecstatic dance spaces, each set is his offering music back to the floor that has shaped him so profoundly.
Inspired by DJs such as DJ Osiah, Mikaya, Kofdrop, Hunter the Gatherer, and Dobarae, FRĒKWINSEA’s sound blends bass-forward energy with organic, expressive textures. His intention is to create a grounded yet expansive arc that invites release, presence, and embodied connection.
Movement Lab: 6:55-7:15
Authentic Relating with Erin Casey
Movement is life. So is connection. To connect deeply with ourselves while also being present with another person is a courageous, nourishing practice.
In July's movement labs, we'll explore being in connection with ourselves and others while expanding our palette of movement, increasing our capacity to be more fully expressed. It's intended to give space for you to be more here, more alive, more aligned with what's true for you in the moment, while being in connection with another. For us to feel safe, nourishing connection with our dance community.
Throughout the month, we'll move through solo, dyadic and small group practices to develop deeper presence and attunement to ourselves and others. They'll include relational meditations, authentic movement, creative dance exercises, and practices of witnessing and being witnessed, as well as verbal exchange to share reflections, what we notice in ourselves and others, what we notice in our sensations, emotions, thoughts and desires - in order to better understand and be present with ourselves and others. To find safety in connection, to come home to ourselves.
Erin Casey is an artist, dancer, bodyworker and intimacy coach who's trained with the Somatica Institute, ART (Authentic Relating) International, and many others in practices to deepen awareness of and connection with ourselves and others. She's been practicing authentic relating and ecstatic dance consistently for over 13 years with the intention to connect with and better understand herself and others, and to feel more at home and embodied here on Earth.
She thrives when there's space for her to be fully expressed, with healthy boundaries, clear communication, and space for her and others to be just as they are. She's passionate about creating spaces for others to feel this freedom, feel love for themselves and others, and feel at home in their bodies.

Guidelines
-VOICES on the dance floor: The dance floor is a talk-free zone. This allows dancers to engage in movement as a meditation, to go within, and to be more embodied without distraction in proximity.
-VOICES off the dance floor: We have created a tea lounge and chill space off the dance floor and quiet voices are encouraged in order to engage with others in a different way when you're not dancing.
-SHOELESS: We ask that you are shoeless in the space. If you have a physical reason to wear shoes, you are welcome to - we simply ask that they are not shoes you wear on the street.
-RESPECT: Be respectful of yourself, of others, and of the space/venue.
-PHONES: the dance floor and chill spaces are phone free zones. This allows dancers to be present fully.
Beat Church was started in San Francisco in the early 2000s by the amazing DJ, Neptune, who saw a need for a new cutting edge underground dance offering.
We want to continue and build on that tradition here in Asheville for the existing vibrant dance community.
