Beakid is The Beacon Museum’s creative, hands-on monthly activity programme for children of all ages.
Designed to spark curiosity and celebrate imagination, Beakid gives young visitors the chance to explore, build, create and discover through fun, themed workshops and events. Connects children to local heritage and science themes, and provides accessible, fun activities for families.
In this themed workshop, we’ll explore the Dragon Boat Festival through storytelling and games, learning why it’s celebrated and the legends of Qu Yuan. You’ll also create your own personalised kite and mini cork sailboat – and race it – while discovering traditions like dragon boat racing.
