Join us on Monday, August 17, 2026, for a hands-on Baybayin workshop led by Sulat Collective as part of the Filipino Canadian Book Festival.
Baybayin is an Indigenous writing system from the Philippines that carries histories of language, art and cultural memory. During this welcoming workshop, participants will be introduced to the foundations of Baybayin and invited to practise writing together in a supportive, community-centred space.
No previous experience is needed. Whether you are reconnecting with your heritage, learning about Baybayin for the first time or simply curious to explore a new creative practice, everyone is welcome.
Since wet material is being used, please wear art-friendly clothing. The class will create a community art piece at the end of the workshop.
